Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest

I can facilitate a supportive safe space to explore how your thoughts may be affecting your feelings and behaviours. Sometimes thoughts can leave us feeling lost or stuck, unsure of how to approach the future. For example, the meaning we take from events and how we process these events may have unwanted consequences on our feelings and behaviours. Together we can work towards changing these unwanted consequences. I listen with empathy, congruence and non-judgment, working at a pace led by you. I have a special interest in the field of Peri-Natal Mental Health and am currently involved in research-based practice in this field. This includes understanding issues arising for mothers and fathers from the time of conception up until the child reaches 5 years old. I work with aspects of your mental health affected on becoming a mother or father, examples include:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Infertility,

  • Pregnancy loss,

  • Artificial reproductive technology

  • Pre-natal crisis pregnancy

  • Child diagnosis,

  • Child bereavement

  • Parenting styles

  • Relationships

  • Separation

  • Domestic violence

  • Adverse childhood experiences and trauma impacting your experience of parenthood
